Speaker: Tina Bruess – Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce http://tahoechamber.org – Tina gave us an update on the Hwy. 50 closure which will now be postponed from April 15 start date until May 1. The highway will be closed for 2 weeks and then open for 6 more weeks with single lane piloted traffic. There will be no work on any holiday or during Amgen. Any business can post on the Cal Trans website for FREE your special offers you will have during the project. The website will go live weeks prior to the start of the project. The website is http://www.Way2Tahoe.com . Be sure to promote your business there for free! Unofficially Johnson Pass will be opened during this time for locals without large trailers. Hwy 50/Lakeview Commons project will also have roadwork this summer during nights and not on the weekends.
Amgen Tour is May 15th. It is the second richest sport in the world. Second only to yacht racing. The Chamber is encouraging business to take advantage of the visitors in Tahoe for this event by offering a “return coupon” to invite tourists back. There will also be a two day festival at the Horizon parking lot Saturday and Sunday which will draw thousands of people if your business is interested in having a booth. There is a free forum for more information on the Amgen Tour and the Cal Trans projects on Thursday April 14th at 5:30p.m at the Horizon Casino.
Chamber Mixer is next Wed. April 7, 2011 at the Fresh Ketch Restaurant. Tickets are $10 or Free on Facebook.

Absent: Joe, Sherri, Allen, George, Gina Excused: Dan Guest: Steve Kolsnick, Tahoe Carpet Care, Steve uses hot water extraction process to clean carpets and has been in business 5 years. He is also the So. Tahoe High varsity girls’ soft ball coach.
Speaker: Carol Daum, ASID – Design Scapes Interior Resource and Design. Carol passed around her green floor covering products: Cork, bamboo, wool carpet, reclaimed wood, and lyptus hardwood. She also showed an array of other products available to her such as, bathroom mirror televisions, woodworking trims, nylon carpet, lighting fixtures, and specialty glass for room dividers, signs and shower enclosures. Small specialty appliances for health care, bars, outdoor kitchens etc. If your residential or business interiors have a need for something a little different or special, Design Scapes can help you. Carol also explained what it takes to become a professional member of American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). She explained that she needed 6 years of education and experience to quality to sit for the 16 hour 2 day exam. The six part exam tests you on lighting plans, building codes, furniture and floorplan layouts, textiles and finishes.

Business of the week: Design Scapes, next week will be Mary Kay cosmetics I noticed that if you have hit the “like” button for “LTBRN, tahoebusinesses.com” on Facebook, when you are business of the week it posts on your wall and it helps out your advertising. People who “like” your business page and your friends see it. A little extra promotion!
New Business: The group would like to explore having a booth next year at the Business Expo and Miguel offered to help with that.
Old Business: We purchased the two additional domain names. http://www.tahoebusinesses.org and http://www.tahoebusinesses.net and they are now linked to our website, so if people don’t remember our website address exactly, they will find us anyways. Our attendance and minutes are now being posted on our website.

Announcements: Our coupon book was passed out. If you missed the meeting, make sure you attend the next meeting. The chamber Business Expo is this Friday at the Mont Blue Convention Center from 4-8p.m. Tim from Winters Electric will have our new LTBRN coupon book offered at his booth.
Speaker: Leticia Hansen – Mary Kay Cosmetics, was our speaker today. She has been selling Mary Kay for seven years now. She got her start in the business when her husband Scott purchased Mary Kay for her as a gift, and she loved it! She passed around her lovely samples of Satin Hands and a face cream. The Mary Kay skin care line is suitable for all skin types’ even sensitive skin and Rosacea sufferers. The products are hypo-allergenic. The skin care line includes products for both men and women including, but not limited to, sun screen products, lip and eye treatments, age fighting products, acne treatments, moisturizers, soaps and cleansers; even in travel sizes! Leticia offers gift baskets with her products for easy gift giving. She will be working with the wedding industry doing make-up for brides. Leticia also offers facials and make over’s and has a coupon for a free facial in our coupon book! Mary Kay also supplies a full line of make-up and fragrances. You can see why Mary Kay is a debt free company when clinical testing is done for Mary Kay in independent laboratories where volunteers are supervised by independent board certified dermatologists and ophthalmologists. New Business: Scott suggested we offer “printable coupons” on our website http://www.Tahoebusinesses.com . Audrey is going to work on that for us by adding a tab for coupons on our home page…and…putting the coupon on each individual member’s page! Great idea!

Today the group also voted to purchase two additional URL domain names. TahoeBusinesses.net and TahoeBusiness.org and Audrey said that when Joe purchases them she will have them tied, pointed and directed to our website!
Old Business: We will be inviting our two potential members to our next meeting. Please always remember to read your e-mails if you miss a meeting, we want to emphasize this so members stay informed with new group developments. Our Face Book account now has 38 people who “like” our page. Remember to visit Face Book from our website link and post anything your business is doing for more exposure.
