Speaker of the Day: Dan Spano filled everyone in on real estate in South Lake Tahoe. His previously announced merger with McCall Real Estate is on hold for this year so in the meantime he’s excited and retooling Paradise Real Estate. The market has taken a shift over the last 2-3 months and we’re now seeing the lowest amount of inventory of homes for sale that we’ve seen in the last 6 years. Buyers are around. The median price has decreased but the homes priced from 100k to 300k are pretty stable with very little decrease. Brokers throughout the area have returned to doing sales due to the market over the last few years, just like many other businesses. Dan enjoys being hands on and is excited about the future.
Business of the Week: repeat of Zephyr and Massage at Tahoe due to website transition issue.
Announcements: Expo: we’re doing at least the $85 non-profit circle since that is what is budgeted. Will pass around a sign up sheet at the next meeting for members to sign up to work a shift. We need to donate a basket worth at least $75 to the silent auction. We’ll fill it with coupons and items from LTBRN members.
David and George gave a demonstration on our new LTBRN app for the iphone and android. Will be a very cool thing for our group!
Basket for Rosie: collecting items and Doug will deliver over the weekend.
Business of the Week for facebook and website will start alphabetically after next week.
Many thanks to Brandi for hosting our meeting. Everyone enjoyed the facility and tour.

Speaker of the Day: Steve Kolesnik talked carpets: He said he always gets 3 questions: 1) How much does cleaning cost? 25 cents/sq ft or $3/stair; 2) How long does they take to dry? 2-3 hours if Berber, 3-4 hours if pile, 5 hrs tops normally; 3) Do spots come back? He does a great job so they shouldn’t come back. He prepares the carpet and uses a hot water extraction method to get the dirt up. The process used is important and chemicals aren’t as effective.

Announcements: Maricel Brady now has a job in Reno and has to leave the group. Rosie is on bedrest until the baby comes. She is at St. Mary’s. Brandi will create a video card and get a gift basket from the group at the next meeting.

Happy Birthday Larry!
Business Expo March 30: will be getting a list together for signups. It was suggested that members who have their own table have a LTBRN sign for display.

Don’t forget next week’s meeting will be at Tahoe Production House.

MINUTES – General Meeting
Attendance: George Sariego, David Smith, Gil Garcia, Gina Beal, Sherri Hughes , Richard Kahn, Brian Cohen, Joe Zarachoff, Doug Rousse, Tim Schultz, Maggie Wattle, Don Elston, France Carreau, Kae Reed, Dan Spano, Carol Daum, Steve Kolesnik, Scot Hansen, Paula Peterson
Speaker of the Day: Scot Hansen, Pioneer Appliance
Scot graduated high school in ’79 and joined the service. Got lucky when the opportunity arose to go to college through the military. He changed his field to refrigeration and air conditioning, became a trainer where he had 80 guys under him. He took advantage of all the schools that were offered. He was hired by Sears even before he was out of the military. In 1991 someone told him to go to Tahoe and start a business. He sold everything, bought a mobile home and brought his family of 5 to the lake. He started Pioneer Appliance Repair. His business partner became a “religious zealot” who tried to change the world and convert the local drug addicts from their office so they parted ways. Scot joined LTBRN in 1994 which helped him grow and gave him a great philosophy on customer care. Between him and Leticia they have 6 children now. Oldest son is a medical tech in Army. Next one is a daughter who goes to college and works with the San Diego Sports Arena. Next daughter now has 3 kids and is an Iraqi war vet. Next child is a son who is an intelligence officer in Korea. Next daughter is in school and works and the youngest, a son, is a STHS grad and works for Pioneer.
Scot says the group gives us role models and goals to be as good or better. It helped him change his business philosophy and he is now servicing around the lake and valley.
