Guest Speaker: Sherri Hughes – Max Design. Sherri brought a gift basket prize drawing which contained a gift certificate, chocolate, and a bottle of wine. Our guest Paula Peterson won it. Sherri became a full time graphic designer 8 years ago in Brookings, OR. She has worked in Portland, Cresent City, and Seattle since 1987. Sheri has always loved art. When she first started out she worked for a news paper called Belleview Journal. Now Sherri also does web site design. When she designs logos for your company she not only gives you it in color but also in black and white! She makes sure you get all logo file types, especially an EPS file, so you can size your logo, and it will not have a pixilation problem using a minimum of 300 DPI. She also makes a 200 DPI logo for newspaper advertising. Sherri designs everything from wine labels and book covers, to flyers and business cards. If you would like to set up an appointment with Sherri, click here to send an e-mail
New Business: Paula Peterson spoke to our members about Face Book. A discussion took place that Face Book is a place to give, not a place to take. Promoting the benefits of becoming a member of our group, thanking each other for referrals and posting a welcome to our guests and new members are good ideas for the LTBRN Face Book page.
Carolyn can set up a Face Book feed on member websites.
To keep an eye on LTBRN Face Book postings, Carolyn is going to set up a dummy e-mail address, so postings can go to many of our members for comments or deletions.
Maggie from Big Blue Spa/Pool Services & Repair was voted in as our newest member. Welcome Maggie!
Next Meeting: Guest Speaker, Robert Klemer Enterprises
Business of the Week: Leticia Hansen – Mary Kay Skin Care and Cosmetics. Next Week: Larry Marlow – Redwood Printing. If you have any business specials to post for an upcoming business of the week please notify Paula Peterson to post on our Face Book Page, and Carolyn Phillips to post on our LTBRN website. Carol, Paula, and Carolyn have a copy of the schedule.

Guest Speaker: Scott Mara – Good Dog Training. Scott has been training animals for over 15 years now. He has extensive experience training marine animals including dolphins and whales. Scott believes in using a scientifically based approach to training. He uses “positive reinforcement” methods to create a working relationship between you and your dog. No choke collars! As he knows from working with very large marine animals, the only way to get them to cooperate is with positive reinforcement, since there is no way to punish killer whales into behavior modification. Good Dog treats all problems related to dogs and can teach any behavior including, but not limited to: Obedience training; come, heel, and stay. Behavior modification, including: housebreaking, chewing, jumping, aggression, and separation anxiety. Scott offers 1-1&1/2 hour private lessons for $65. He also offers 21 day boarding training program to modify your dogs behavior problems for you; and he has 6 week group classes held at Tahoe Best Friends for $120 on Wednesdays for puppies and Thursday nights for dogs beginning at 6:15p.m. For more information contact Scott at 530-318-9436 or e-mail him.
New Business: We will be adding our bi-laws to our member’s only page on our website. We have added a tab for member criteria.
Old Business: Our new coupon book is on its way to Larry to print and should be ready soon.
Our group has $750. Dedicated to be spent on charity, some suggestions are: Scholarships, car seats, books, Friday Night Lights STHS football field. Another suggestion is to form a charity committee of 3. The general consensus is to keep the funding local, in our community. Decisions will be made at the next board meeting on Sept. 7th after our regular meeting. All members are invited to attend.
Attendance: A reminder that we are now half way through our 3rd quarter. We have six meetings left for members to meet their attendance requirements. If you are low on attendance, one missed meeting can also be made up by attending our next board meeting.
